The chemistry was cornered in the basement in Leicester where Ben Allen (guitar), Chris Holloway (vocals/guitar) and Jamie Anderson (keyboards/samples) used to meet to write and record songs. Joined by Rich Herrington (drums) and Craig Sharman (bass) Shortwave Fade have begun to trace an upward arc from these subterranean roots to a wider audience…

Early material owed a debt to such bands as Husker Du, Teenage Fanclub and Dinosaur Jr, whose mixture of melody and mayhem was shared. However, their own sound was swiftly developed to encompass the crashing guitars, swirling keyboards, sampled electronica and impassioned vocals that their songs have come to signify.

Pinballing musically and lyrically between intensity and isolation, their first, eponymous ep was met enthusiastically and the initial run sold out as the band set out playing venues all over the country supporting the likes of The Datsuns, Keane and Obi along the way.

The recently recorded “THIS IS HOW IT ENDS” ep has shown greater momentum and confidence and the bands’ reputation has grown in tandem with this. Poised at the point of discovery, one listen to Shortwave Fade will show you why…
