Maelkar are a three-piece rock band based in Nottingham. Each member of Maelkar brings a different twist through his own personal taste and style. Despite this diversity there is a middle ground where all three meet. Maelkar can be described as a lo-fi semi-progressive neo-stoner melodic rock machine with a sound somewhere between Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Idlewild, Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins. Local and national gigs have proved Maelkar to be popular amongst a wide range of crowds. In 2001 www.maelkar.co.uk was created, the band recorded a new demo in Hartlepool and played gigs all over England. After having been together for almost two years, that have been spent developing the band and its music through regular rehearsals and live shows, Maelkar are looking to reach out to larger audiences.
