" It's the beginning of the next century and the land
is ruled by non threatening, asexual, karoke singing children,
fulfilling marketing men's wet dreams. There is no shame
in playing real music. Real meaning emotion, real meaning
good time's, real meaning exciting. It should not be seen
as being old fashioned. It should be seen as an alternative
when the alternative fails." Dr Montgomery Monk.
YellowStone were formed from the debris of L.A.M.P. by
Yulie (Vocals), Nathan Kermode (Bass), and Steve "Butts"
Butterfield (Drums). Ed Bryning (Lead Guitar) and Non Mad
Steve Hardy (Loud Guitar) joined them in 2001. Regular gigs
in Leicester and Nottingham have led to several key appearances
with the likes of
Iceland's Leaves and Oxford's Spacehopper.
YellowStone's sound is influenced by The Who, Elvis Costello,
The Beatles, The Faces and The Stones. Any requests for
a fashionable urban, punky, vibe are quickly met with a
blast of rock and roll kicking teeth down their respective
throats. Reconstructed head music this ain't when the P.A.'s
shaking and the bar is open.
Recording so far consists of "No, Not You" a
harsh tale of friendship spurned, delivered with balls-out
rock fury. "God's Crock" is a Memphis tinged rocker
just waiting for the Muscle Shoals horn section. Both of
these tracks were recorded at Cordellia Studios in Leicester.
"No, Not you" has been sent through a blender
and kicked up and down an alleyway by Ed, to provide the
instrumental "NNY Sonic". If Sun Ra met The Stooges
at a bar, with The Aphex Twin serving Aftershock, it would
sound like this. Finally, the Get Carter sampling ballad
"I Don't Know" is a slower more controlled number
from the heart.
This was also recorded and mixed by Ed.
